Into the Mist
Autumn brings out the brilliant colors of the Columbia River Gorge. With a kaleidoscope of yellows, oranges, and reds encompassing a nearly endless number of breathtaking falls like this one, the scene is nothing less than spectacular. As it happens so often in the Pacific Northwest, this day brought torrential rains and wind that were an incredible force to deal with. The Gorge with its lush, moist landscape seems to have its own micro-climate. While rain and runoff poured over the cliffs above combined with a great mist and wicked wind, it took many shots before I was finally able to capture the true beauty of this waterfall without massive drops of water obscuring the lens.
